Zhong (Alan) Li Awarded Young Investigator Award and the Student and Young Investigator Sections (SYIS) Scientific Excellence Award

In the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) – Americas 2019 Annual Meeting held in Orlando, Florida during Dec 2–5, 2019, Dr. Zhong (Alan) Li, a Postdoctoral Associate from the Center for Cellular and Molecular Engineering, was awarded the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) Young Investigator Award and the Student and Young Investigator Sections (SYIS) Scientific Excellence Award. Dr. Li joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2018. His research interests are focused on microphysiological systems for modeling human synovial joints (microJoint). The versatile microJoint platform can be employed to investigate pathologies of joints diseases such as osteoarthritis, understand mechanisms underlying joint pain, and test potential disease-modifying medications and cell-based therapies.
